Peasant Prices & Blogging

Okay, the wedges are at least. They already were a great price and now they’re on sale too. So, go check them out. As for my lax blogging. It’s my camera’s fault…my friend’s fault…my…my…my…

I’ll do better.

I’ve had a hectic few weeks, and let me tell you, there’s this period of impossible fashion blogging in Washington state. Why? Because while the rest of the country is experiencing full fledged summer, here in the PNW we are still experiencing winterish spring? So, anything I post would be from last year’s winter wardrobe. So, excuse my slower posts, things will pick up when summer treats us all fairly. Also, I’m trying to just balance out right now. If that means less blogging and more writing-so be it. I’d like to share more blogging things with you too. Fashion and feelings are my forte, yes?

There have been some home projects we’ve had to work on like flooring, and deciding if we want to invest in the backyard, or if we are selling. I’ve had my eye on another house. We live in a development now. I have an amazing view of the Cascades, and I love my location since I am a few minutes away from the kid’s school, but I’ve been wanting something a little more private for a while now. Somewhere I can put dragons on my fence, and have a yard that neighbors can’t see into. I came to Washington for peace, and while I’ve mostly found it, I’ve discovered that in my line of work I need a certain sense of separation from people to maintain that peace. So, whilst I try to adjust to a new balance of work, and home, and decisions, I’ll be spreading out all of my extra curricular activities and depending on the week you may see more or less of them.

Black Bat

I wasn’t even going to take the camera with on the day I wore this outfit, but Josh said I looked Guise of the Villain. So here is a villainous outfit. I guess. Why did I call this post Black Bat? It’s Scarlet’s favorite Jack White song and she made us play it all day. Tip, if you have a lot of hair try wearing men’s fedoras. They’re the only hats that work for me because I can’t stuff my hair into women’s hats. They always look awkward and half way through the day they look ready to pop off. I also tend to prefer straw hats in the summer. So, hey, hey! Links below.

Skirting Around

I always buy skirts to wear to church. Not dresses, skirts. Like there’s something more acceptable to the Lord about wearing separates on Sunday. It’s how I do. It probably stems back to my traumatic college experience of single hand holding with boys, sacred music, and pantyhose and pumps. Have I mentioned that I attended a really strict Christian college? We wore skirts. It was okay because I went to college in Florida and skirts are nice and breezy when it’s hot. That’s what I told myself as I sang hymns, and peeled pantyhose off my sweat soaked legs every night to make my 10:00 o’ clock mandatory bedtime.  Anyway, I don’t have to wear hose anymore, and you couldn’t pay me to sing Come Thou Fount, but this week in Washington state it’s hot as hell and I’m back in skirts. I linked you below.

Kickers

I remember bitching about Monday and now it’s Monday again. How does this keep happening? For most of you it’s a holiday. A depressing holiday. Is that why they give us all of these sales, to distract us from how sad today is? Today we remember people who died, here is fifty percent off… Also, enjoy your BBQ.

Anyway, my Docs are my new favorite thing. I have a ton of Doc Martens, but these are the most kick ass pair I’ve ever owned. Link below.

Bad

I’ve been looking for a green  bag for a long time. People get really excited about this one when I wear it. The bad news is you can’t get it stateside. So, I found a kelly green hobo and linked that for you. Otherwise, my shoes are on sale!  The really unique thing about these wedges are that they have a velcro strap at the ankle. They are comfortable and sturdy, and for someone like me who has wobbly ankles they’re a great thing.I’ve yet to fall down in them. Anyway, I know it’s Monday but I hope it’s a decent one. I’ve  had to do some soul searching this weekend. Soul purging? Soul cleansing? It’s not purged, or cleansed, or found. My best friend did tell me I need to take up yoga, smoke lots of weed, or have a seance. Honestly, the last thing I’m willing to do is yoga. So…

Metallic Summer

I am in-love with all sneakers this summer: wedges, flats, sporty, pretty. I saw them worn so many different ways in Europe I came back with sneaker envy. My friend Karina got me hooked on Ash shoes so I grabbed these metallics (which are so comfortable). Unfortunately, the wedges sold out really quickly, but they have the flats in stock. And how about these white Joe jeans on sale. They’re 50% off so hurry!

Touristy

Here’s great news, my designer jeans are on sale for 40% off. I’m a pretty big fan of these since they have great stretch and are super comfortable. The wash is also flattering. That’s a strange thing to say but it’s true. They have all the right spots on your legs highlighted. It’s like contouring for jeans. Do you have anything by Splendid yet? the softest cotton tops that you can wash over and over and never see any wear on. You are going to hurt a little with the price tag, but I’ve been purchasing Splendid for five years now and my oldest tops still look brand new. Anyway, these photos were taken in Rome on vacation. I refused to use the elevator while I was there and only did the stairs. I would also do extra trips up and down the stairs for exercise (we were on the fifth floor). Guess what? I still put on a bajillion pounds and though my butt is hard like a rock, it is large like a boulder. Fail. Lucky I have stretchy jeans!

Black Summer

I spend my mornings in my closet trying to figure out how to make black look summery. Color is like a special occasion for me. I have very little of it to work with.  So, here I found this wonderfully cool, and flattering summer dress. I paired it with my dainty leaflet sandals and felt like a lovely summer day. A black summer day. But, there are some other options if you’re looking to get your color on.

Again With The Culottes

I can’t stop them, please help me. But, for real in the summer these are going to be a wonderful alternative to shorts. Europe is always ahead of the game in regard to fashion and I wasn’t the only one wearing culottes over there. Okay, maybe I was. But, they’ll catch on soon.

Heavy Metal

In my heart I’m a little girl with a bedazzle gun. I want spikes, studs, chains and metal on everything. Maybe I should get braces again.

Oy! These pull on skinnies with the split ankle! I am so in love. I was skeptical with the pull on factor. But they are fantastic, and the best part is the detail on the ankle. I included a more affordable pair in the links below, so check those out too. And I have to give props to my friend, Karina Halle. You may know her as author Karina Halle, writer of fabulous books. I texted her awhile back about edgy flats and she pointed me to ASH. Karina knows shoes, what can I say? I landed up buying several more pairs in Italy because I was such a fan of their design. So, thanks Karina. I like your cheekbones.
